Senate’s Defense Bill For Reconciliation Adjusts Shipbuilding Funds, Wicker Knocks Budget Plan

The Senate GOP has revealed its defense portion of the reconciliation bill with some slight adjustments from the $150 billion version the House passed, while the chair of the Armed Services Committee criticized the White House’s use of these funds to reach the proposed $1 trillion defense topline for fiscal year 2026. The most significant changes in the Senate’s bill from the House version of the defense language includes a $5.7 billion reduction in shipbuilding while adding over $4 billion…
