SASC Scrutinizes Obama Approach To DoD Cuts

As Pentagon leaders defended their budget that ignores a potential half trillion dollar cut in spending reductions, a key senator argued the administration’s fiscal year 2013 proposal renders those cuts moot. During the first congressional hearing on the Pentagon’s $525.4 billion budget plan, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta found himself yesterday in the now-familiar position of decrying the so-called sequestration cuts to planned defense spending while explaining why the administration didn’t budget for them in the FY ’13 budget it released Monday.…
