Science Applications International Corp. [SAI] has received two contracts from the Department of Homeland (DHS) worth a potential $95 million. Under a two-year, $45 million task order from Customs and Border Protection, SAIC will modernize existing tactical communications systems used by law enforcement agents and officers protection the nation’s borders. The program will upgrade land mobile radio communications capabilities for field personnel in 20 geographic areas in the country. The work will include encryption technology to help ensure secure communications, GPS technology to track agent and officer location, and interoperable digital technology that will allow for greater coverage and user capacity. SAIC will also help in engineering design and analysis, equipment configuration, systems installation, testing and evaluation, training, and field operations support. The task order was awarded under the EAGLE contract. Under a potential $40 million task order with the DHS National Protection and Programs Directorate, SAIC will provide systems engineering services to the US-VISIT program. The award, also made under the EAGLE contract, has a nine-month base period and four one-year options. The company will provide a range of systems engineering services in the areas of infrastructure capacity planning, architecture development and alignment, information systems security and systems assurance. The work is a continuation of SAIC’s support for US-VISIT.
