Republican FY ’16 Budget Proposal Offers $613 Billion For Defense

The Republican budget resolution released Tuesday would see the defense portion of the federal budget rise to $613 billion by pumping up the separate Overseas Contingency Operations by $90 billion for fiscal year 2016, and increase the defense budget to $561 billionThis sets up an internecine battle between Republicans calling for fiscal restraint and defense hawks.The Republican proposal, A Balanced Budget for A Stronger America, would avoid “uncertainty” in the president’s budget request for FY ’16, the 43-page report said.…
