Raytheon [RTN] Friday said it delivered its bid to the Air Force for its Family of Beyond Line-of-Sight Terminals (FAB-T) alternate source contract, a spokesman said.
Raytheon spokesman Peter Ramjug said via email the company delivered its 6,500-page proposal Thursday, one day prior to deadline.
Northrop Grumman [NOC] has been rumored to be interested in bidding on the alternate source, but the company did not respond to calls by press time.
The Air Force issued its alternate source request for proposals in April as a hedge against FAB-T prime contractor Boeing [BA] not being able to provide the capability it needs. Boeing and the Air Force reached an agreement in early June to modify the company’s development contract to fixed-price to limit the service’s cost liability (Defense Daily, June 4).
FAB-T is an information and communications system that provides the link enabling strategic nuclear command and control using the Milstar Extremely High Frequency (EHF) and Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) waveforms.
