Oceaneering To Build Autonomous Underwater Vehicle For Navy Following Success Testing Effort

Oceaneering International [OII] on Tuesday said it has received a contract to build and deliver to the Navy a variant of its Freedom robotic submarine after successful tests this year with the company’s commercial version of the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). The value of the award was not disclosed but Oceaneering said it is a “multi-million dollar” contract by the Defense Department’s Defense Innovation Unit and the Navy.
