Northrop Grumman [NOC] on Wednesday said it will reorganize its businesses to better meet its customers’ needs and to bolster innovation.
The company also said that Gloria Flach, who is currently a corporate vice president and president of the Electronic Systems sector, has been appointed chief operating officer (COO), a position that is currently vacant. Flach joined the company in 1981 and before leading Electronic Systems was corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman’s Enterprise Shared Services organization.
The actions will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2016. Northrop Grumman doesn’t expect the changes to have a material impact on its 2015 financial results.
Under the reorganization, Northrop Grumman is establishing a new Mission Systems sector that will combine the existing Electronic Systems sector and businesses of the current Information Systems sector that are focused on the development of capabilities for military and intelligence customers worldwide. Mission Systems will be headquartered in Maryland and will be led by Kathy Warden, who is currently corporate vice president and president of Information Systems.
The new Technology Services sector will comprise the existing Technical Services sector and the services businesses within Information Systems. Chris Jones, corporate vice president and president of Technical Services, will lead Technology Services.
The current Aerospace Systems sector will add the California-based military and civil space hardware businesses that are currently part of Electronic Systems. Tom Vice will continue as corporate vice president and president of Aerospace Systems.
“These changes align more closely with the evolving missions of our customers in the global security markets we serve,” Wes Bush, chairman, president and CEO of Northrop Grumman, said in a statement.
