Navy Shaking Up Admiral Posts To Save Money

The Navy is eliminating, downgrading or merging dozens of admiral posts to save money at a time of shrinking budgets and the imposition of automatic sequestration cuts, the service said, in announcing the changes that will hit operational and acquisition commands. Navy Secretary Ray Mabus approved the initiative by Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan Greenert to make the changes to 35 flag officer positions and complete the adjustments by the 2017 fiscal year, the service said late Tuesday. Photo…
