Navy Set To Award Block III Virginia-Class Contract Within One Month

By Geoff Fein The Navy has notified Congress it will award a multiyear contract in excess of $500 million to General Dynamics [GD] Electric Boat for Block III of the Virginia-class submarine program. The contract award will occur no earlier than Dec. 19, 2008 for construction of the FY '09 through FY '13 Virginia-class submarines, Navy Secretary Donald Winter said in his Nov. 19 letter.
