Morpho Detection says its CTX 9800 DSi explosives detection system (EDS) has received certification as a high-speed system by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Morpho, which is part of France’s Safran Group, says its CTX 9800 DSi is certified at a belt speed of 0.3 meters per second, which is fast enough to screen more than 1,000 bags per hour. “Approval of this new, faster CTX 9800 offers airports the flexibility to meet competing demands of customer requirements, space and budget while controlling operational costs,” says Dennis Cooke, president and CEO of Morpho Detection. Morpho says the TSA actually certified the high-speed 9800 last September. The high-speed system also received Standard 3 approval in Europe last year.
