Latest Counter-UAS Demo, This Time In Contested Environment, Shows Layered Solution Still Best

Once again, the most recent demonstration by the Defense Department office charged with addressing threats from small drones, showed that no single solution will suffice in most cases, and a layered, system-of-systems approach is best, officials said on Wednesday. For nearly three weeks in April, the Joint Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Office (JCO) oversaw eight vendors demonstrating nine systems to detect, track, identify, and defeat Group 1, 2, and 3 drones in contested electromagnetic environments (EMEs), office officials said…
