The State Department has approved a possible $37 million Foreign Military Sales (FMS) request to Kuwait for Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) Tail Kits and related equipment, and support.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of the potential sales on Dec. 20.

The sale includes a total of 750 JDAM Tail Kits (250 kits for 500-pound bombs, 250 kits for 1,000-pound bombs, and 250 kits for 2,000-pound bombs) as well as two 500-pound and two 2,000-pound JDAM Load Build Trainers spares, support equipment, repair and return, and other associated logistical support.

The primary sole-source contractor is the original equipment manufacturer, Boeing [BA].

Kuwait would use the JDAM equipment to improve its capability to deter regional threats and strengthen homeland defense, DSCA said.

Implementation of the sale will not require the assignment of additional U.S. government or contractor personnel.
