House Republicans passed ill-fated legislation yesterday that is intended to prevent the first year of so-called sequestration cuts to the defense budget. The chamber’s approval of the Sequester Replacement Reconciliation Act of 2012, by a near-party-line vote of 218-199, drew criticism from Defense Secretary Leon Panetta at the Pentagon.
