House Passes Defense-Boosting Resolution

The House passed a budget blueprint yesterday that would deal the Pentagon several billion dollars more than the Obama administration proposed, possibly giving House lawmakers more room to pitch increases to weapons programs. The Republican-controlled House passed the fiscal year 2013 budget resolution in the afternoon by a near-party-line vote of 228-191. The non-binding resolution crafted by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) would set the FY ’13 defense budget at $554.2 billion, or $8.2 billion more than the $546 billion cap…
