House Armed Services Committee Wants UAS Office Reporting To Deputy Defense Secretary

The House Armed Services Committee’s (HASC) proposed policy bill would direct the Joint Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft System Office (JCO) to report to the deputy secretary of defense while keeping the Army as the office’s executive agent. The JCO currently reports to the Army acquisition executive but there is growing interest in Congress to increase its profile as concerns increase about the need to improve the defenses of forward deployed forces and military bases and facilities.
