The launch of the first Global Positioning System (GPS) IIF satellite has been rescheduled to 11:13 – 11:31 p.m. EDT on May 25, the Air Force said.
The May 21 launch attempt of the United Launch Alliance Delta IV with the Air Force’s GPS IIF SV-1 was scrubbed. Mission managers require additional time to “validate a modified approach to monitor the satellite’s telemetry signal,” according to officials at Los Angeles AFB.
Last week, mission managers determined that a piece of ground support equipment used to control one of the swing arms on the Fixed Umbilical Tower was not operating correctly. The component was replaced before another attempt was made to launch the rocket from Cape Canaveral, Fla.
