Federal Signal Forms ALPR Industry Consortium

With the growing use of Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) systems at the federal, state and local level being provided by various companies, Federal Signal Corp. [FSS] has established an industry consortium to develop a data exchange protocol to enable interoperability and data sharing among the various ALPR systems on the market. Last fall the International Association of Chiefs of Police adopted a resolution supporting license plate recognition, a sign of increased acceptance of the technology globally, the company says.…
