Berger Group Holdings, Inc., yesterday said it has acquired Hawthorne Services, Inc., a small company that provides fuel services operations and facility services at military bases and airfields in a deal that extends its capabilities in the operations and maintenance market.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Hawthorne is based in South Carolina and has 350 employees.
Hawthorne provides full life-cycle aircraft fuel services and facilities operations and maintenance services across the southeast United States for the Energy division of the Defense Logistics Agency and the state of South Carolina.
“We continue to enhance our support for government operations and maintenance, transportation, fueling services, airfield operations, facilities services and specialized technical services,” Nicholas Masucci, CEO of the Berger Group, said in a statement.
Berger Group is an architecture, engineering, planning and environmental consulting firm. Hawthorne will become part of Berger’s Louis Berger Services company, which provides technical services to government clients.
“Given the current budgetary pressures across the government, the DLA-E is seeking more efficient, cost-effective ways to install fueling infrastructure, manage fuels and service aircraft and vehicles at Department of Defense Installations,” Steve Townes, president of Louis Berger Services, said in a statement. “Hawthorne is well positioned to participate in that trend. The company has a $100 million backlog, and now has a very strong parent company for enhanced resourcing and increased competitive advantage.”
Hawthorne’s financial adviser on the transaction was Aronson Capital Partners.
