The Department of Homeland Security wants to expand its current research, developing, and operational activities around detecting, monitoring, and defeating threats from small drones across the U.S. to support mission requirements and is seeking feedback on potential environmental impacts of the proposal. The department currently conducts research, development, testing, and evaluation of counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) technologies in some areas of the country and several of its components have authorities to operate these systems in certain areas such as airports,…
