The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science & Technology (S&T) Directorate has issued a Broad Agency Announcement for the development of bioassays--specifically Enzyme Linked ImmunoSorbent Assays--for the detection of ricin, abrin and botulinum toxins. To address the current gaps that exist for the rapid and accurate identification of biological toxins in suspect samples and materials, an immunological assay based on a 96 well platform must be developed for use in the Laboratory Response Network.
