OSI Systems Awarded $29M for Cargo Inspection Systems

OSI Systems [OSIS] says its Security segment has received a $29 million order from an international customer to provide mobile and fixed versions of its cargo and vehicle inspection systems. The customer wasn’t disclosed. OSI said the award covers port and border applications.

Battelle Awards Liberty Defense Contract to Support AIT Development

Liberty Defense has received a contract from Battelle to support further development of High Definition-Advanced Imaging Technology (HD-AIT) kits, which the company has been developing under a license agreement with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). PNNL, which is managed by Battelle for the Department of Energy, received an award from the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate for the development work. Liberty is developing the millimeter wave-based HD-AIT technology for body and shoe scanning, without requiring passengers to remove light outerwear and shoes. The system allows for an arms-down pose for a better passenger experience. Under the contract, Liberty is helping in the design, integration, testing and delivery of a retrofit kit assembly for DHS S&T.

DHS S&T Plans Award to MSU for Small UAS Support

The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate plans to award a sole source contract to Mississippi State University’s ASSURE Research and Development Corp. to provide technical expertise in research, development, test and evaluation methodologies for the advancement of DHS air, land, maritime and cyber small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) capabilities. The work will be done under the Joint Unmanned Systems Testing in Collaborative Environments (JUSTICE) Project, which requires support services and range facility access to advance new sUAS platforms and sensor technologies that are part of the homeland security enterprise nationwide. The JUSTICE program will expand the work of a predecessor project through fiscal year 2027. S&T says that the work will occur at MSU, Camp Shelby, Singing River Naval Station, and NASA Stennis Space Center, and other facilities it designates.
