CBP Selects Dozens of Vendors to Compete for $3B in Tactical Communications Equipment

Customs and Border Protection has awarded 45 contracts under a potential $3 billion program to provide tactical communications supplies and services to Department of Homeland Security components. The Tactical Communications (TacCom) II program consists of two technical categories, one for equipment and the other for services. Some of the awardees under the equipment category include EF Johnson

, Harris [HRS], Motorola Solutions, and United Technologies [UTX]. Some of the awardees under the services category include CACI International [CACI], General Dynamics [GD], Harris, Motorola, and UTC. Ordering agencies will define work needed in task order solicitations that will be competed among the awardees.

OSI Systems Receives $28M from Huntington Ingalls to Service Security Inspection Systems

Huntington Ingalls Industries [HII] has awarded OSI Systems [OSIS] a three-year contract worth up to $28 million to provide service maintenance, training, sustaining engineering and logistics support for multiple platforms of Rapiscan baggage, parcel and cargo inspection systems.

DHS S&T Awards $10M for Nine Small Business Research Projects

The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate has awarded $10 million to nine small businesses for10 Phase II Small Business Innovation Research projects that will result in prototypes based on their Phase I research efforts completed last November. The awardees each received $1 million or less. Nano Terra, Inc. and Vaporsens were selected for work under “Development of a Wearable Fentanyl Analog Sensor.” Physical Optics Corp. was selected under the topic area “Cell Phone Location Finder for Maritime and Remote Search and Rescue.” Intellisense received funds for the “Device to Detect Interference of Communications Systems” category and Setter Research, Inc. received funds under the “Deterministic Augmentation of RF Transmissions for PNT.” Catalyst Communications Technologies, Inc. received an award for “LMR-P25 and LTE Mission Critical Push to Talk Interface Service,” Integrated Defense and Security Solutions and Next Century Corp. received awards under “Improved Human Systems for Computed Tomography,” and Kryptowire, LLC and Red Balloon Security, Inc. received funds under the “Automated & Scalable Analysis of Mobile & IoT Device Firmware.”

CBP Awards $36M Task Order to Deloitte for IT Modernization

Customs and Border Protection has awarded a $35.8 million task order to Deloitte Consulting off of its Enterprise Business Management Support Services Blanket Purchase Agreement to provide enforcement, trade, and enterprise analytics support services to the Office of Information and Technology (OIT). The IT office develops and provides technology services and solutions for the organization. “The support services for the implementation of an enterprise analytics strategy provided by this contract will enable CBP to promote efficiency, effectiveness, drive innovation, and improve governance, compliance, procedures, and operations with the agency,” said OIT Assistant Commissioner Phillip Landfried. The award is for five years.
