Coast Guard Awards HII $77 Million For Long-Lead Materials For NSC 8

The Coast Guard on Monday awarded Huntington Ingalls Industries [HII] a $76.5 million contract option to procure long-lead time materials for the eighth and final Legend-class National Security Cutter (NSC). The contract covers the initial order of components and materials to sequence construction of the 418-foot high-endurance cutter, the Midgett, including steel plating, propulsion systems, marine turbine/diesel engines, air search radar, ship integrated control system, switchboards and generators.
