Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has awarded a $100 million contract to SRCTec for an aerial surveillance radar that can detect and track small, low and slow moving aircraft that may have a small radar cross section.

The award was made under the agency’s Ultra Light Aircraft Detection program.

SRCTec makes the LSTAR lightweight surveillance target acquisition radar that is combat-proven, small and easily transportable. CBP wants a self-contained system that can operate with or without external power or the agency’s infrastructure to permit deployment in remote areas and in all types of weather and terrain conditions.

The ULAD system is expected to transmit real-time sensor data into an operations center.

SRCTec is a division of SRC Inc.
