The Department of Homeland Security now expects Phase II proposals for its FirstSource III acquisition to be due by the end of November, a slight delay from the previous Nov. 21 due date. DHS is delaying the due date until it is able to post an amendment with answers to technical questions to the FirstSource III solicitation.

The Homeland Security Technology Consortium

(HSTech) has added Bounce Imaging, Consolidated Resource Imaging, InfiNetix, LiveView Technologies, Mainstream Engineering, Mission Driven Research, T-Rex Solutions, and ZeroEyes. HSTech, formerly the Border Security Technology Consortium, supports Customs and Border Protection and other potential Department of Homeland Security customers in providing collaborative research and development, and rapid prototyping and piloting capabilities relevant to homeland security.

Customs and Border Protection and Princess Cruises have introduced facial comparison technology to the debarkation process at the Port of San Diego. During debarkation, passengers pause for a photo that is compared to their passport or visa photo in secure Department of Homeland Security systems to biometrically verify their identity. Verification occurs within two seconds and is more than 98 percent accurate. The facial biometric technology is available at 16 seaports across the U.S.
