Evolv Technology says it has raised $18 million in a new round of funding that includes General Catalyst, Lux Capital, Gates Ventures and Data Collective. Evolv in 2016 introduced a high-throughput, relocatable body scanner built for automated screening of people for mass casualty threats in places such as stadiums, non-secure areas of airports, mass transit stations, critical infrastructure and military facilities. The Evolv Edge uses millimeter wave technology with supporting magnetic field and optical sensors to automatically fuse data to detect a range of person-borne threats.
