The U.S. Army awarded Boeing [BA] an undefinitized fixed-price-incentive, foreign military sales (FMS) contract worth nearly $668 million to provide 24 AH-64E Apache helicopters to Qatar, the Army said June 7.
Other equipment in the sale includes 1 Longbow crew trainer, ground support equipment, and Thales radios.
One bid was solicited for the contract with one received. Work is set to occur in Mesa, Ariz. with an estimated completion date of May 31, 2020.
$136 million in funds were obligated at award time. The contracting activity is Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal, Ala.
In 2014 Qatar accepted a potential $11 billion offer to buy U.S. Patriot, Javelin, and AH-64 Apache helicopter systems (Defense Daily, June 15, 2014).
