Boeing To Cut 800 Defense Jobs At Wichita

Boeing [BA] yesterday said it plans to layoff about 800 employees at its Wichita, Kan., site due to the end of some defense programs and the delay in the U.S. Air Force tanker replacement program. Boeing said it will deliver layoff notices to 76 employees tomorrow, with their last day of work scheduled for mid-January. The remainder of the layoff notices will go out throughout 2009, with most of the notices to be delivered in the first half of 2009.…
