Boeing Laser System Defeated Group 3 UAS In Recent Red Sands Experiment

A directed energy system based on laser technology successfully defeated large drones in a recent counter-small unmanned aircraft system (C-sUAS) exercise hosted by U.S. Central Command and Saudi Arabia, Boeing [BA] said last Friday. The company’s Compact Laser Weapons System (CLWS) was used against Group 3 UAS, which weigh up to 1,320 pounds during the Red Sands exercise and experimentation that occurred in July and August in Saudi Arabia.
