Boeing, Air Force Use Commercial-Like Contracting Model To Lower WGS Costs

The Air Force and prime contractor Boeing [BA] have used technological improvements and a commercial-like contracting model to lower costs on the Wideband Global Satcom (WGS) program, according to officials.Dan Hart, vice president of government satellite systems at Boeing, told Defense Daily sister publication Via Satellite that the move to use a fixed-price and commercial-like operating model with the Air Force for the WGS follow-on contract has lowered the cost of WGS orders.
