Austal Nabs $450 Million GD Award To Expand Sub Module Production

General Dynamics' Electric Boat [GD] awarded Austal USA a $450 million contract to increase its infrastructure to design, construct and outfit new submarine modules for the U.S. submarine's prime contractor, Austal said Monday. Austal USA’s Mobile, Ala., shipyard is currently contracted out by GD to build some of the modules for Virginia-class attack submarines (SSNs) and the new nuclear-armed Columbia-class ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs) to improve the production rates for new boats. “This contract award will fund Austal USA to…
