Aircraft Carrier Truman Collides With Merchant Vessel Near Egypt

The U.S. Navy on Thursday disclosed the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) collided with a merchant vessel shortly before midnight on the night of Feb. 12. According to 6th Fleet spokesperson Cmdr. Timothy Gorman, the carrier “was involved in a collision with the merchant vessel Besiktas-M at approximately 11:46 p.m. local time, Feb. 12, while operating in the vicinity of Port Said, Egypt, in the Mediterranean Sea.” The Navy highlighted the collision did not endanger the carrier,…
