The Air Force said yesterday it awarded United Launch Alliance (ULA) a nearly $1.1 billion contract for Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) production services.
The not-to-exceed letter contract is for a variety of Air Force and National Reconnaissance Organization (NRO) launch vehicle configurations. Work is expected to be completed by 2015.

The award is the result of a sole source acquisition. Fiscal year 2013 missile procurement funds in the amount of $525 million were obligated as part of this award.
EELV is an Air Force program to assure the federal government access to space. ULA is a joint venture between Lockheed Martin [LMT] and Boeing [BA].
