The private equity firm The Acacia Group said yesterday it recently acquired federal technology provider Intelligent Decisions and has split the business into two separate companies, one focused on products and the other on services.
The Acacia Group said it plans additional acquisitions to build on its new investment. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
“We acquired Intelligent Decisions because of the outstanding reputation of its people among intelligence community, DoD and civilian federal agency customers and its alignment with our ‘enabling technology’ investment focus,” Gavin Long, partner at The Acacia Group, said in a statement. “Having achieved this first step in our investment strategy, we are actively pursuing other acquisitions that provide differentiated capabilities, including advanced analytics and software development. Our mission is to create a leading middle-market that operates at the nexus of people, technology and intelligence.”
One of the new companies created from Intelligent Decisions is ID Technologies, which is the products business with capabilities in cloud, data management and storage, Internet of things, mobility and security. The Acacia Group said this company has a “clear mission, to make it simpler for our federal government customers to buy and use IT that’s fit for their purpose.
The second company is Applied Insight, which will provide professional services and has expertise in converge infrastructure, cyber operations, cloud, and application development.
The Acacia Group said that ID Technologies and Applied Insight will operate through a shared services model. It also said the companies will “have the freedom to develop new strategies, partnerships and propositions tailored to specific contexts and goals of customers across the federal government, and to cultivate and support a strong entrepreneurial culture.”
ID Technologies is being led by Chris Oliver, who most recently served as vice president of Federal Sales at Intelligent Decisions. Greg Walker is President of Applied Insight after most recently being senior vice president of Professional Services at Intelligent Decisions.
