Saab AB received a $37 million contract for the production and delivery of the Carl-Gustaf man-portable recoilless rifle to take place during 2017, the company said Wednesday.
The contract includes weapon systems of the M3 version of the Carl-Gustaf. Saab said that the industry’s nature is such that depending on product and customer issues “further information regarding the customer will not be announced.”

The Carl-Gustaf has been sold to over 40 countries and allows dismounted soldiers to defeat challenges ranging from armored vehicles to engaging enemies in buildings.
“This is an important order for Saab and our Carl-Gustaf portfolio. The interest for both the M3 and the latest M4 version is strong. The Carl-Gustaf system has an impressive track record and this is a strong proof of the trust our customers place in the system”, Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s Dynamics business area, said in a statement.
