Oshkosh Defense [OSK] won a U.S. Army base contract plus options to reset 800 Oshkosh-produced Mine Resistant Ambush protected (MRAP) All-Terrain Vehicles (M-ATVs) worth over $77 million, the company said on Thursday.

An M-ATV Reset base contract for 500 vehicles was first awarded to Oshkosh on Aug. 6, 2014. The company was awarded three more contract options for 100 vehicles each on Dec. 12, 2014. Deliveries of the vehicles is underway and are to continue through September 2015.

The reset process includes a comprehensive inspection of the vehicle condition and configuration, systematic repairs, replacement of missing parts, and installation of upgrade kits to bring the vehicle to the current configuration for each M-ATV variant in the fleet.

The upgrade kits include underbody improvement kit (UIK), upgraded automatic fire extinguishing systems (AFES), and safety-related improvements, Oshkosh said.

“The same supply chain and workforce that originally produced more than 8,700 M-ATVs on an urgent need basis were able to step right in and immediately deliver production-line-quality for this rather complex reset program. We appreciate this opportunity to continue supporting the M-ATV as the MRAP platform of choice for future ground missions,” John Bryant, senior vice president of defense programs at Oshkosh Defense, said in a statement.

Oshkosh was the original producer of the M-ATV, with an initial contract in June 2009. It is still on contract to provide lifecycle service and support until July 2018.
