The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has issued a pre-solicitation notice related to the potential purchase, deployment and operational maintenance of about 100 Credential Authentication Technology-Boarding Pass Scanning Systems (CAT-BPSS) with an option to procure up to 2,350. The purpose of CAT-BPSS is to provide TSA with a primary means for automated credential authentication of passenger travel documents and validation of boarding passes. These include forms of identification that are presented to Transportation Security Officers by passengers during the security checkpoint screening process, as well those forms of identification presented by airport and airline personnel to access sterile areas. The CAT-BPSS may consist of a single device or a set of devices that are battery-powered and network compatible. A Request for Proposals is expected in early February. Sol. No. HSTS04-09-R-CT2017.
