Freight forwarder National Air Cargo says that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has approved the company to operate a Certified Cargo Screening Facility (CCSF) at the Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Mich., which will help relieve congestion of the screening for domestic and international air cargo at Detroit Metropolitan Airport and other airports in southeastern Michigan. National Air Cargo says it has been approved to conduct physical inspections of cargo it handles. TSA has also approved Worldwide Flight Services’ (WFS) cargo center at Pittsburgh International Airport in Pennsylvania. Earlier this year TSA certified the company’s cargo center in Miami, Fla., as a CCSF. WFS plans to offer third-party screening services. So far TSA has certified 382 entities as CCSFs, including 296 indirect air carriers, 54 independent cargo screening facilities, and 32 shippers, the agency tells TR2.
