TriMas Corp. yesterday said it has acquired Martinic Engineering for $19 million, providing it with new engineered products for the aerospace industry.

Martinic, which is based in California, manufactures precision machined, complex parts for commercial and military aerospace applications, including auxiliary power units, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

“This acquisition complements our growth strategies for our Aerospace and Defense segment by providing additional original equipment and aftermarket opportunities,” Dave Wathen, president and CEO of Michigan-based TriMas, said in a statement.

TriMas’ Aerospace and Defense segment consists of two business units, Monogram Aerospace Fasteners, which makes specialty fasteners for the aerospace industry, and NI Industries, which produces precision metal munitions components for the United States and allied militaries.

TriMas also participates in the energy, packaging and tower and trailer markets.

Martinic generated about $13 million in sales for the year-ended Dec. 31, 2012.
