Textron Unveils New Low-Cost USV

Textron Systems [TXT] announced a new family of low-cost autonomous unmanned surface vessels already in “high production” that is designed to meet Defense Department needs. Announced ahead of the Surface Navy Association’s annual symposium this week, this new family of vehicles is called TSUNAMI and was designed with the Illinois-based Brunswick Corporation’s high-performance vessels as a baseline.  The TSUNAMI family is gasoline-fueled, has a payload capacity of 1,000 pounds, and can range between 600 and over 1,000 nautical miles.
