Taiwan recently selected Lockheed Martin’s [LMT] Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP) for its F-16 aircraft, according to a company statement.

In the initial contract, Lockheed Martin will provide two Sniper ATPs and integration support to Taiwan. The company will also provide integration support of LANTIRN targeting and navigation pods on Taiwan’s recently-upgraded F-16s.

Sniper ATP detects, identifies, automatically tracks and laser designates small tactical targets at long ranges. It also supports employment of all laser and GPS-guided weapons against multiple fixed and moving targets. Lockheed Martin announced this week it received a 2014 contract from Japan to put Sniper ATP on F-2s (Defense Daily, Aug. 11).
