SRA International [SRX] yesterday said it has acquired the energy consulting firm Sentech in a deal that supplements its current environmental information technology (IT) and consulting services business and expands its capabilities serving the Department of Energy (DoE).

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. SRA said that Sentech would add $30 million to its fiscal year that began July 1 and that earnings accretion would be insignificant.

Maryland-based Sentech has expertise in renewable energy, distributed generation, energy efficiency and advanced transportation technologies. The company provides management consulting, market, policy and technical analysis, communications and outreach, and economic feasibility analysis.

Sentech serves a number of organizations within DoE as well as the national laboratories.

“Bringing Sentech’s strong domain expertise with SRA’s IT systems and environmental offerings will be a complementary fit as we continue to enhance our strong presence in the environmental and energy markets,” Stan Sloane, SRA’s president and CEO, said in a statement.

The acquisition is the second for SRA this year. The company acquired environmental consulting firm Perrin Quarles Associates in January (Defense Daily, Jan. 26).
