Some Dems Want Senate To Stay In D.C. Longer To Finish Defense Bill

By Emelie Rutherford Some Democrats are calling for the Senate to stay in session after mid-month to complete work on the stalled defense bill that contains the controversial change to the Pentagon's policy on gay troops. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) during a Saturday Senate session said he wanted to adjourn the chamber on Dec. 17.
