Smith Drafts BRAC Bill

House Armed Services Committee (HASC) Ranking Member Adam Smith (D-Wash.) has drafted a base realignment and closure (BRAC) bill that he plans to introduce early next week, according to a spokesman.The bill would provide a “fair and transparent” process that would allow the Pentagon to consolidate, close or realign military installations within the United States and would allow the Defense Department to realize efficiencies and savings that can be reinvested into critical military readiness and modernization issues.
