The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee yesterday favorably reported the nominations of Suzanne Spaulding and Stevan Bunnell to positions within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Spaulding and Bunnell were nominated in August by President Barack Obama to be the Under Secretary for the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD) and General Counsel for DHS, respectively.

Spaulding, who is currently the deputy under secretary of NPPD, would replace Rand Beers, who is currently serving as the acting secretary of DHS.
