Rodger Baker Addresses China’s Global Footprint and its Implications for the Arctic and Alaska

AUSTIN, Texas, June 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Stratfor, the world’s leading geopolitical intelligence platform, is excited to announce that Senior Vice President of Strategic Analysis, Rodger Baker, will address the 2019 Northernmost Border Security Roundtable at the Joint Elmendorf-RIchardson Base, Alaska Command on June 6th.

Baker will be joined by Lt. General Thomas Bussiere, Commander, Alaska Command; U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski; U.S. Congressman Don Young; U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan and the U.S. Secretary of the Interior, David Bernhardt, as well as many top Alaska Native leaders from throughout the state.

Baker’s talk will focus on an analysis of China’s growing investment in the Arctic and where the United States currently falls among the unprecedented interest of foregn direct investment in the arctic. The region is strategically imperative to a number of nations, including the United States, China, Russia and North Korea.

The Roundtable, hosted by the Alaska Federation of Natives, will focus on a discussion of how the United States can best counter Chinese investment in the Arctic by prioritizing U.S. investment in Alaska and the North.  The goal is to deepen relationships among all stakeholders, the  Alaska Native community, the military and the oil industry, to improve the infrastructure and the security of the U.S. arctic region.
