Out Of Time, Biden Drops Bid To Require Contractors To Disclose Greenhouse Gas Emissions

The Biden administration on Monday withdrew a proposal that would have required major federal contractors to report their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and those of their suppliers as a condition of receiving government contracts. A notice published in the Jan. 13 Federal Register says federal agencies “lack sufficient time…to finalize the proposal.” The same notice also cites an analysis of public comments to the proposal suggesting that industry is assessing its GHG emissions and that the regulatory environment is shifting.…
