Northrop Grumman to Develop Open-Architecture Embedded GPS For Military Aircraft

The Air Force has awarded Northrop Grumman [NOC] a $59 million contract to develop an embedded GPS system for the F-22 Raptor and other aircraft. The embedded GPS/INS-modernization (EGI-M) program will be built on an open-system architecture to enable the rapid future integration of new capabilities. It will also incorporate receivers capable of securely and accurately transmitting M-code, or military GPS signals.
