Navy And Lockheed Martin Press Ahead On Aegis

The Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin a contract exceeding $500 million for the production of the Aegis weapon system for seven destroyers as well as with an option for the construction of a land-based system for possible deployment to Europe. The contract is part of the sea-based missile defense system run under the Navy and the Pentagon’s Missile Defense Agency, and is centered around the latest baseline nine version of Aegis.
