ManTech International [MANT] this week established a new subsidiary that will focus on the development and marketing of new cyber products and solutions for its federal, state, local and commercial customers.

The new business is called ManTech Cyber Solutions International, Inc. (CSI) and will be led by Alex Nieves, who is currently cyber security senior vice president, ManTech Security and Mission Assurance. Tiffany Gates, who was chief of a business that ManTech acquired last August, will be vice president of ManTech CSI.

“There is a large demand for cyber solutions in the marketplace and defending against cyber threats is critical to our national interest.” Larry Prior, ManTech’s president and chief operating officer, said in a statement. “We launched ManTech CSI to focus our development on products and tools that will help our customers in government and industry to meet this rising challenge. Providing cyber services continues to be a core capability for parent company ManTech where we are centered on delivering services and training across the spectrum of computer network operations.”

Establishment of the new subsidiary follows two acquisitions within the past year of firms with cyber security expertise. Last summer ManTech purchased Emerging Technologies Group, which specialized in computer forensics and network analysis (Defense Daily, Aug. 20, 2008). ETG was led by Gates.

More recently, ManTech acquired DDK Technology Group, which provides cyber intelligence analysis, computer and network forensics and counterterrorism and counterintelligence support and analysis (Defense Daily, March 17). Both acquisitions have been integrated into ManTech.

Stephens, Inc. security analyst Tim Quillin said in a report on the company yesterday that cyber security could be a growth driver that ManTech is “exceptionally well positioned” for even though just 7 percent of its sales come from this market.

This week ManTech CSI is launching its most recent product CROWBARTM and will use various tools such as Twitter and blogs to interact with cyber professionals, potential cyber talent and its customer base. In addition to meeting the needs of its government and commercial customers, ManTech said that the new business will also provide free tools to the general public found on the new web site http://CyberSolutions.ManTech.com.
